The Museum of Neon Art is America’s – and quite possible the world’s first neon museum.
Opening its doors in 1981 at its original Los Angeles location, the Museum of Neon Art is home not just to neon signage but to neon artwork as well. In 2016, MONA relocated from LA to its new location in Glendale, CA. Visitors to MONA can learn about and see historical neon signs as well as examples of neon art. In addition, visitors can learn about the sub-genres of neon art that make it a genre of art that is worthy of widespread appreciation.
It’s also worth mentioning that historic West Coast neon signs such as the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre and Brown Derby signs now call this museum home!
